Wednesday 10^th September 2025, the members of Sutton Coldfield Conclave No 228 and visitors assembled for the annual Installation meeting of the Conclave. The Conclave was honoured with the presence of several Grand Officers along with numerous officers of the Provincial Grand Conclave of Warwickshire and members of the Provincial Grand Supreme Rulers Arch of Steel, led by the Provincial Grand Visitor Wy. Bro Geoff Lates. It being the installation meeting the main item of labour was to install Bro David Evans as the Supreme Ruler of the Conclave for the coming year. Bro David was installed as the Supreme Ruler in an exemplary manner by the current Supreme Ruler of the Conclave R. Wy. Bro. Dennis Freshwater (the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler) and was later commissioned as a Supreme Ruler in the Order faultlessly by Wy. Bro. Neil Watkin (the Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler).

The Commissioning is an interesting aspect of the Installation Ceremony within the order. As a “Commissioned Supreme Ruler” in the Order of the Secret Monitor, Wy. Bro David is authorised to execute the office of Supreme Ruler in any Conclave anywhere in the world!

The Lecture on the Weapons of a Secret Monitor was delivered in an outstanding manner by Bro. James Freakley on only his second meeting in the order.

One of the first duties of the newly installed Supreme Ruler was to receive the Supreme Ruler and members of the Evergreen Remembrance Conclave No 229 who delivered into his care the “Travelling Arrow” which will continue its journey around the province before being returned to the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler at the Provincial meeting in 2026.
